The congress location of Bonn is on display again this year from 25-27 May 2011 at IMEX in Frankfurt/Main. The Bonn Conference Partners (BCP) convention office is presenting the congress destination of Bonn, the World Conference Center Bonn (WorldCCBonn), the Maritim Hotel Bonn congress hotel as well as a strong portfolio of service providers. During the last few years Bonn has established itself as a dialogue platform for future-oriented topics. At present, 19 secretariats and approximately 150 internationally active non-governmental organisations are contributing to the sustainable development of the German UN city. Numerous leading congresses, including the UN climate conferences, the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, international conferences on renewable energy and early warning systems for natural disasters have been held here.
This year a presentation is being given for the first time on the subject of „Green Meetings – Trend or Necessity?“ in cooperation between the „Sustainable Bonn“ project and the CO2OL company as part of the German Convention Bureau (GCB) seminars. Using the example of the successful climate-neutral tourism exhibition „Bonn Börse“ in 2009, lecture is given on sustainable planning, implementation and communication of events and the associated measures required.
BCP is located at the Tourismus & Congress GmbH Region Bonn/Rhein-Sieg/Ahrweiler and is the central contact for planning and realizing events in Bonn and the surrounding region. Together with its partners BCP offers a complete service portfolio for every type of event. “This year we are unveiling a larger stand design for the first time and continue to be in close connection with the neighbouring cities of Cologne and Dusseldorf“, explains Udo Schäfer, Managing Director of BCP. „With us, customers have a targeted reference point for information on the conference and congress options in Bonn and the surrounding region. The new geospatial-based hotel booking system www.BonnHotels.de offers congress participants a convenient way of booking accommodation at up-to-date prices and free travel on public transport during their stay in Bonn“, says Schäfer.
Bonn continues to be popular with customers. In April and May the Bundesverband des Elektro-Großhandels (VEG) [Federal Association of Electrical Distributors] as well as the Bundesverband der mittelständischen Wirtschaft (BVMW) [Federal Association of Medium-sized Businesses] were amongst those who held their major conferences in Bonn. „At IMEX in addition to the appointments which have already been agreed there is the opportunity to network with contacts from Bonn at our ‚Bonn Happy Hour’. We are creating a relaxed atmosphere at the exhibition with our ‚Bonn Happy Hour’ over a glass of Bonn beer, finger-food and an exclusive raffle and can promote Bonn in typical Rhineland fashion“, explains Schäfer.
Bonn is centrally located in Europe and offers event visitors easy access with connections to the Cologne-Bonn airport and two ICE railway stations. Global and stock-exchange quoted companies and academic institutions benefit from the short distances within the region. Beethoven’s birthplace offers a special cultural diversity with the “Museumsmeile”, theatres and concert halls as well as annual major events. Bonn is very close to nature with „Siebengebirge“ and the wine region of Ahrtal and Eifel. In addition to the newly opened Life&Style Hotel Kameha Grand Bonn with 254 rooms and an event area for 2,500 people, the major Bonn conference locations include the Maritim Hotel Bonn with its conference room for 2,800 people and 5 additional conference rooms as well as the World Conference WorldCCBonn with the former chamber of the German Federal Parliament, the waterworks and the expansion currently underway to take capacity to up to 5,000 people.
